The lion-dog finial on a Qing dynasty Tongzhi reign (1861 – 1875) kamcheng from Malacca provides the master for a pair of appealing chopstick rests. Crouched as if ready to play, skilful interpretation animates the tiny pewter sculptures, making them an engaging addition to any dining table.
